Well Petey ... you can always stuff that turkey with a duck stuffed with a chicken ( Turduckhen ) [ first debone them, then stuff, then roast or smoke ] :drool ... a fare fit for a King and his court ( friends , relatives, and all of the neighbors for Thanksgiving dinner with leftovers for the next week or two) . I have done this a whole bunch of times. :weee

I felt like I was parting out a Pteradactyl!!

One thigh weighed 4 lbs.

I've never heard of a thigh roast before LOL

1/2 breast weighed 10 lb. so I split them and have (4) 5 lb turkey breasts in the freezer

i would pit roast him!

Thing southern style here for a minute. You hear of a pig picking? They did a pit and then slow cook a whole big in there for hours and hours. When we do pig pickings, they throw in turkey, chicken and whatever else people drag over for the part. Its a good way to add in some chips for smoking too. Maybe some hickory or apple chips in a tin along side the bird. I bet that would taste amazing!!! :drool

I do love deep pit, but there are only 3 of us. I am thinking of putting a smoker together for the breasts though. It would be awesome! Haven't smoked anything since my kids were tiny...30+ years ago...OMG< its time! Great Idea Vfem
