Not sure, but once I found a hole in the garden... I peeked in- and there was a toad peeking out! It is possible the hole means trouble, but it could be good news!

I'm with BJ - bet you're about to have baby bunnies. The good news is (if I've got this right) she won't bother your plants near the nest. She will come to it 2x daily to feed the babies and then she will leave so as not to draw any attention to the babies.

I found a similar nest in my garden once, Major.

There were bunnies in it!

They were old enuf to disappear into the neighbor's raspberry grape jungle. Momma, had made them a nest not 20' from the "jungle." However, they were nesting in statice plants! Statice has a rosette of leaves at the ground surface and then shoot up coarse flower stalks. Kind of like dandelion leaves but a different flower stalk.

Not what I would consider good cover because you could look right down and see them. But, they certainly blended in.

Yes, it looks just like a bunny nest... Have you taken a peek under that grass yet?

ETA: If you move it, she will probably abandon the babies. She doesn't mind you touching them, but will not like the nest being destroyed. The mom returns to the nest only once in the morning and once in the evening to nurse the babies. She leaves them alone most of the day to avoid drawing the attention of predators.

That's a tough call, certainly...I'm sure they'll take a nibble here and there. The babies will being peeking out and eating some greens around 3wks old. I couldn't kill them....I'd feel too bad. :p

You could always keep them for compost makers. Of course... that would mean that you'd have to get them up at just that right moment when they're old enough to leave Mom but still little enough that you can catch them. :bun

I couldn't bring myself to move them. She'll have them out of there in a few weeks if you don't mind waiting.

Of course, you could wait a few weeks and then put them on the grill with some bbq sauce?! LMAO
