Our okra's put out quite a bit this year & still producing a lot. I probably get 5-6 pods a day.

My okra is still producing too and with no rain in weeks and I haven't watered or cut any in weeks. The clemson spineless won't be edible, but some of the Louisiana Long Pod will be.

I'm getting about 2 okra a day per plant. That # will probably go up as they weren't started till June, they're about 4 1/2' tall now but are crowded together and shade each other a lot.

I am impressed as I'm lucky to get 2 on 1 or 2 plants. What variety do u grow?

^ Clemson spineless. I was only getting one per plant every 2 days, then every day, but as the plants branched out and after I gave them fertilizer they started making clusters of over a dozen buds at a time, producing more and more with each passing day.

Keep in mind that mine were larger than yours when you first posted the picture, at that point mine already had a few foot-wide leaves. Yours may catch up. Couple pics, one of a bunch way too crowded and one of a plant in a different group with a new bud cluster (wasn't there yesterday).

Never thought of it as landscape and food. Great idea

Landscaping for now but I have to figure out what to put in that spot. There was an overgrown tree there that had to be taken out.

It would be prettier if it didn't have remnants of Sevin dust all over it but the grasshoppers and japanese beetles had to be dealt with.

Went and picked it today. I'd been busy so couldn't stay current as I threw away at least this much.

For those that dry okra, how long does it take? I just started 3 trays.

^ I know what you mean. Sometimes it seems as though I've picked them all, taken them in the house and came back outside only to find more already grew enough to be picked. I don't dry any, usually freezing what I don't eat or give away.

Does anyone know what is making a few of mine look deflated into a flat-ish shape while sitting in ice water after blanching? They're all round before they go in the ice bath. I was thinking maybe they cooled down too fast but I didn't do anything differently than the last batch AFAIK and none of the last batch were deflated. Wait, I did use a lid on the pot this time, maybe some floaters at the top stayed out of the water?
