I think the operative word here is normal you guys....and normal people don't eat okra. :hide
Okra is so misunderstood. & SO good.

@Nyboy Cut okra 4" or smaller, cut it in 1/3" slices. Coat with spices, cornmeal/flour mix, fry in bacon grease until dark. Great eating. Some may consider it burnt-I don't. Crunchy outside, creamy insides and pure goodness.

Okra in gumbo is great as well adding a needed flavor. Pickled okra is OK.

So I've been growing it too thick? I will thin to 12-15". I will fry up a 12" skillet of okra and wish there was more-next day, repeat..

@Ridgerunner I'm sure our cool nights cause me some yield loss. Clemson Spineless goes woody if not cut at 3". Hoping Dwarf long pod won't. We'll see.

No. Okra can stand up to garlic and salt/pepper. I also put onions and peppers in the mix. Okra is the stand out.

@ducks4you Yes, sounds good but I love to go to garden, pick okra, garlic, onions, peppers, start 2 pieces of bacon (add enough vegetable oil to fry) and fry. When the kids are home, can't fry enough. Mom did this. Dad's mom did this. IT'S A FAMILY TRADITION!!!

'Cept GM used lard from their own hogs.
