The parsnips are out of the ground, washed and headed to the “curing floor”; after which they go into perforated bags and into the fridge!
This is one of our better years for these!
Thank you Lord!

Carrot’s will be next and that will end the outside stuff for us.

Nice parsnip haul @Alasgun, and that is not an easy veggie to get a generous crop of. You are definitely providing them with what they need to do well. I've grown them a few times, and was surprised how pretty the foliage was.

I'm carrying over from another thread here, but just wanted to say how nice it is to hear that these alternate modalities of health, like chelation therapy, are becoming more widely practiced. It's a wonderful and important process for many, countless lives saved or rehabilitated by it. Such a blessing.

Thanks @heirloomgal, we grow the “white spear” variety. It took several years to learn how to get straight root’s. And another year or so to find a variety that liked Alaska. Since i cannot over winter them here; these represent the best i can hope for size wise.

Once i clean up “where the bomb went off”; i’ll be done for the year. Mostly😳
Carrots are in and will lay over night before bagging.

Today the bagging was completed and the Carrots, Beets and Parsnips are offically in for the year.

once that was done i felt inspired so i cleaned up all the residue from the garden and moved it to the compost pile. Along the way i saved out and hung some Rabbit Hay (carrot tops) for my furry friends. I think they’d rather eat the greens than the carrots themselves.

And this is the one day a year me and the family of field mice who live in the compost are in harmony. They seem to be a polite bunch and as long as i keep an eye on they’re population this is win win.

I have seen that movie And if i remember correctly; the invaders were Lemmings.

All the chatter about “compost and organic fertilizer” gave me a hankering for a trial run with my new trammel. I made the set up and started about noon and had it all put away by 4:30 and along the way stopped to eat lunch And to do my part on cookie making day. Im the wet guy, mixing those items in the food processor and stirring in the oats and raisins for Ruthy. She handles the dry stuff and the baking.

Anyway; im pretty happy with the first run and along the way i improved a couple things; by next year a full length brush will be mounted outside the cage wire and i’ll install lips on each end to keep the product inside a wee bit longer. That will eliminate most of the heavy’s you see on each end.

if you've not seen the movie don't read further as it is really good and funny...




i had tears coming out of my eyes from laughing so hard during that movie when his tent is invaded by mice and he starts going nuts and yells and then eats them and the various scenes. i understood his frustration completely and i've wanted to blow up the walls of this place when they were making so much noise and chewing everything. i've not yet eaten any of them. not sure i could do what he did... i'd likely be vegetarian and eat a lot more beans than i already do before i would try eating a mouse.

Its not like i need anything to do And i’ve been sick the last little bit; However, i felt a little better toady and got a good start on the compost bin roof.
Once completed, i’ll have a better handle on the process and not have to fool with tarps and panels to keep excess rain off!
