My first (ever from seed) Asparagus is emerging. Now if the remaining 74 come up; i’ll be in high cotton!

Later today Parsley and Celery go into trays and in another couple weeks i’ll get a flat of Tomato's going.

I'm excited for you! I read that although they don't do as well, you can grow them in containers. I'm thinking when I get my seeds that I'll put them in a half barrel and see if they'll grow like that. Will your asparagus be in ground?

This video from the MI Gardener gives you a pretty good idea of how the asparagus roots develop. They are beasts!

Things are moving along at a good pace; we’re gaining over 5 min a day of daylight, there’s been pussy willow’s opening, etc.
Upstairs my tiny Asparagus patch is coming along nicely, Self heal, Stevia, Artichoke and Chili Petin are up and well established. The Rosemary is doing great and I just planted a flat of Celery and Parsley Which are on the next shelf up.
Today i took 15-20 mint cuttings of the over wintered plant; and got them in water. These will all go in dirt within 2 weeks and in the spring get used for fill in or to start other little patches, by then i’ll have between 18 and 36 nice little mint plants ready to go.

It’s going to be a good compost season! This bin is 6ft long, 5ft wide and 5ft tall and it’s pretty full and i have 4 more months before it can be turned!

Im not going to wait till March to get the Tomato’s going; i’m gonna plant them today!
Yesterday a number of things were moved into 5” pots so everything’s good for a bit. My Asparagus “forrest” is looking good and it looks like i’ll be adding 50ish to the bed! A 10/20 of Parsley and Celery are up and looking good.
I’m done taking cuttings off the Mint plant and will find someone who’d like that Mother plant, the self heal is all coming along; it’s nice to have the one big plant for fresh tea. It and the half dozen starts will go into they’re own bed here in a bit. How long is a bit? Well, i just predicted on the “poll” that March would come in like a lion AND go out like a lion; hope i loose!

Are you also experiencing warmer than normal Temps this time of year? Everything is budding here in my north Alabama garden!
