The garbage bag held this years Comfrey and after running thru the hammer-mill if was greatly reduced. It’s back on the floor for a little further drying; inside this sink cabinet is the manifold for the floor heat and a great place to dry something quick!
Once it’s real dry i’ll bag it. If i can triple the production i’ll have enough to give everything a dose in the spring. The plan is to add
20-40 more root cuttings this coming spring so this should be an easy goal.

Last Tuesday i started this batch of Comfrey tea, here’s what it looked like after a couple days. Each day now im stirring it back down and each time it’s getting darker! Before long i’ll be using it on some of the indoor stuff, via foliar.

For years; off and on, i’ve dabbled with “foliar feeding” various stuff and always see great benefit. After acquiring a couple electric sprayers i’ve noticed i’m far more likely to continue with it. The user friendliness and simplicity are far greater than a hand spray bottle. The coverage is perfect and the mist is so much finer too!
The only problem i have is trying to decide between Humic/Fulvic; liquid Kelp, Lacto Bacillus serum and now Comfrey tea. Unless i screw something up by going too heavy on my quantities it doesn't seem to matter; the plants really seem to appreciate my efforts!
This is the latest sprayer, relegated to indoor service!
I used too make comfrey liquid feed. My food plants used to be amazing.

@Marie2020 , your stinging nettle availability may serve that purpose, although my advice is to NOT have stinging nettle on your own property ;). A friend sees it as important for her gardening as both a fertilizer and an insect repellent, she even provides a bag of leaves for us. Crammed in a bucket, covered with water early in the season, it is available for use mostly on the cabbage.

Cabbage worms but especially aphids have been so bad some seasons and so difficult to combat, I almost gave up on that crop. I'm not sure if they will ever amount to as serious a problem here at home as they were in the distant garden but the "tea" serves as a very good fertilizer. It has proven itself for the most recent several years. Those pests in the cabbage have not been much of a problem.

After removing the heads from those last 9 Broccoli, i pulled the stalks and every one of them looked like the first three (i showed a while back) with very little root remaining. There’s a half dozen Kale in this bed as well; which stood up to the wind ok and shows a root ball that should be similar on the Broccoli! I’m still amazed that they lived at all let along finished heads along the way!

The in door Bath-tub Cukes went in the ground July 13th and today i took the first fruit! The greenhouse is still rocking so there’s no shortage!
That’s a good thing.

Thanks; The in-door fruits are cleaner (smoother) but the greenhouse fruit is considerably larger, thanks to real light; the Sun!

Either way; i’ll put my Cucumbers up against ANY store bought fruit for flavor and all of my friends will back me on that! In years past we’ve put up a dozen or more gallons of ferment pickles (refrigerator pickles) but this year Ruthy is having trouble with any of the ferment so i still grew as many plants and just gave them away, which was a win-win. Didn’t have to pickle em and have a lot more room in one of the storage refrigerators!
