Lilacs really go to town in Montana where I lived for 21 years. Don't see to many real Syringa Lilacs in Calif.

I miss the aroma! It was the pink Miss Kim variety that was strongest, but the old fashioned Persians are no slouch either, pumping out loads on 74 year old branches.

There are 50 year old lilacs in the far end of our yard. I think they get too much shade, because they are thinly leafed out and don't get many blossoms. There's and old cottonwood shading them... it could go, but I dont want to lose the old tree next to it. I don't know what it is, but its tall and straight, and has ENORMOUS heart-shaped leaves, larger than a dinner plate.
