That's a lot of potatoes major. How many plants did you have? I checked one of my containers and there were only a couple of marble size ones. :( Maybe my other 2 will do better.

Nice spuds Major! Aren't they just the most fun to harvest? :)

Like Steve said, you should always plant at least one variety that you can't buy at the store.

We had 32 plants and filled 2 5 gallon buckets, we had a blast
Digging them up definitely going to look for other spuds
To put in next year maybe a early and a late , but now we know
What a fresh Yukon tastes like ...wow what a treat for us
Thank goodness I saved all the catalogs to look though

Majorcatfish, those are some pretty potatoes! My first planting drowned and only a couple came up. They were purple and pink ones I ordered from Potato Garden, so I was disappointed. I replanted and got 88 pounds! Your potatoes are really nice and I know ya'll will enjoy them. Dehydrate some hash browns-they are good!

I was going to give you the link, but they're closed for maintenance.
i wish i had my catalog from this year. but i gave it to one of my local farmers' market friends who was searching for a certain type and just loved all the different types in their catalog! i hope she decides to try a few next year to sell at the market!

I sure wanted some pink ones, but they were sold out, so I will order earlier next year.

I always seem to want the earliest; which may not be such a good thing. I haven't ordered potatoes . . . ever; which also seems to not be such a good thing. The garden center might have 1 or 2 that I'm looking for and then it is the same-old, same-old. Problem is, the "something new" won't be available the next year!!

Shipping spuds is expensive.

The earliest varieties is probably my orientation away from store-bought also. If I grow more than about 50#, I've got to store them somehow! Trying to find a cool enuf location around here in late August & September doesn't work too well.

I just need a range of early to late or I'm eating potatoes like crazy for 6 months (I hope).

Was able to get into potato gardens web site yesterday
They sure do have the potatoes!!!!! Ordered a catalog as well
It will give us time to read on which ones will be best to grow.
Their spuds prices are a bit steep. but they are not a box store either.
Thank you everyone for the info

Nice looking harvest Major, we grew yukons and red Pontiacs last year. The reds seemed to out produce the yukons, so this year we planted the Pontiacs and some blue potatoes , we will see what the best producer is this year. I am thinking the red Pontiacs will be the top producer again...:)
