So we tried one... and it tastes TERRIBLE. DH already knows he hates radishes... and it turns out that the rest of us do too. Any tricks to make the red and white goblin actually edible? Holy grossness! My tongue is on FIRE. I thought if you got them early they wouldn't hurt? These are the size of marbles, and are the first thing (other than the kale transplants) that are supposedly edible... but SO gross!!!

You could try pickling them. I hear that takes some of the bite out--though I cannot personally attest to that since I've never actually eaten a pickled radish. :hu

I think a lot of the heat comes from the particular variety you plant. Some are supposed to be milder. The weather makes a difference too as you already know.
But that's all I know, as I don't eat many radishes, it's my husband who thinks they're edible.

I don't like radishes myself, altho I grew them this year for DH. I only got 4-5 out of the 20 or so I planted, tho. :/ He said they were good, but he'll eat anything.

Braised Radishes are quite delicious. This is just part of the learning curve- next year you don't have to plant radishes!! I finally stopped growing summer squash, when I realized we just didn't care for it!
Happy Gardening!
