We got up early yesterday morning to tackle Saturday morning chores, my husband to get working on cutting up a load of firewood logs we had delivered, and me to tidy the house and do laundry before heading out to attack the outside chores.

When I was done and ready for outside work I headed up front to see how my husband was doing, and saw 5 of our neighbors assembled with chainsaws, skidsteer, tractor, and splitter all hard at it, shrinking that pile of logs.

Made me tear up.

How humbling to have your neighbors organize behind your back and give hours of their Saturday morning to help with a big job.

I love our neighbors, they have such big hearts and are great friends. :love

It was really perfect because they have offered several times but my stubborn husband has always told them we're fine, don't need the help. So they had to be sneaky! They cut and split two cords of wood, and piled it by the wood shed, so now it just needs stacking. :)

Are these the same neighbors whose children you teach the finer points of gardening and producing their own food? Small wonder that they would come saw and split your firewood. Y'all are fantastic neighbors and are an asset to the neighborhood and they are showing their appreciation.

Yes, my surrogate grandkids :love.

Good neighbors are a gift beyond price, you are truly fortunate to have such thoughtful people around you.

Yep we are super blessed to be living where we do. We all have each others back.

Another neighbor, our age, was a hay farmer in Nevada on 2500 acres. He has some health issues and so they sold the farm and moved up here 2 or 3 years ago. He misses farming a lot, so for entertainment he travels up north an hour and a half and hauls back 20 tons of hay for all of us horseaholics. He won't accept any sort of payment and he saves us hundreds of dollars on feed by making a deal with his hay farmer buddy up north.

I have a trailer out front he dropped off today with 5 tons of hay on it that we'll unload this week. And to top it off it's gorgeous hay that you could never get at a feed store.
Yep, we are truly thankful for friends that are also neighbors.

But before you start to think that this is fantasy land we do have that one neighbor that is a study in contrasts. She feels the world owes her something and is about as inconsiderate as a human can be. I guess it all balances out, haha.

It nice to have good neighbors that will trade favors and help out when ever possible. Our neighbors over here are that way also. I have been kind of laying low with broken arm, so they don’t find out and try to do any of my work lol. I had a nephew over Saturday and paid him to keep me caught up on the things I cannot do currently. He just getting back to work after injuring himself riding motorcycles with his friends, so I know he needs the money to help with his bills. Our community here really comes together in the winter to keep everybody plowed out and access maintained out to the paved rd which is more than 2 miles. We are on county rd. Here but if we are getting snow daily they stay out on the paved rd. And not plow rural for a week or more.yes good neighbors are a real blessing.

Dh is like that too. Always 1st to go help. NEVER wants or accepts offers to help him. He even got grouchy when someone mowed the tall weeds/grass at the end of the garage. (It was me! Fooled him.) He is already saying after retirement he will get up early enough to clear driveway before I go to work, then probably do the neighbors while he still has the blower out and running. We shall see ;)
