Dh is like that too. Always 1st to go help. NEVER wants or accepts offers to help him. He even got grouchy when someone mowed the tall weeds/grass at the end of the garage. (It was me! Fooled him.) He is already saying after retirement he will get up early enough to clear driveway before I go to work, then probably do the neighbors while he still has the blower out and running. We shall see ;)
Hey, I resemble that remark! :D It's good to aim high, even when history says you might fall short... practice makes (closer to) perfect. Only a couple years & a lot of aspirations between me & my own retirement.

Every neighborhood has "that" neighbor. We were lucky enough to have two. One couple, whom I dubbed Dumb and Dumber, just got their place repo'ed and put off the property. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief, NOBODY liked them. The other one is just a jerk, his wife is weird and their son is weird too. They stay to themselves except when they walk their dog to crap on other people's property. One neighbor put up No Trespassing signs and told them to NEVER set foot on her property again.

The rest of the neighborhood is fabulous, everybody is wonderful.

:love Made me tear up too! Good neighbors are a blessing and worth more than gold.

This past Monday I was texting early in the morning with several friends - just the usual "Good Morning, Happy Labor Day" sort of things and asking what everyone was up to. When they asked, I said that I had gotten entirely overly ambitious on a spur of the moment peach orchard trip Sun and would be canning ALL day.
An hour later, a friend showed up with paring knife in hand! By that evening there were 6 pints of strawberries, 21 pints of peaches and 23 pints of tomatoes sitting on the counter.
:love
