at home i never lock my car, long driveway, have to go thru 2 gates to get to the house plus large barky dogs to great them. but when i go to town i always lock my doors. i had a man try to get into my car while i was stopped at a light so i even have them locked when I'm driving around town. i usually lock the house when i leave if i plan to be gone for a while. I've been known to go to bed with my keys hanging in the door.......

My 1962 Corvair didn't have a way to lock doors from inside, only way was with key on outside lock. You didn't even need a key to start it, it had a on/off swtich. People must have been a lot more honest back then.

I don't lock mine during the day at my own property. I DO lock all cars at night, even if they are in the garage. Sometimes, when I drive to a mortgage signing and it's out in the country, I do not lock my car's doors. In town, ALWAYS. Too much theft, unfortunately.

I do lock my vehicle. DH does not, even been know to leave key in it! Which is nuts since my son had his check book stolen out of his glove box when it was parked inside the closed garage! And we are a small town/city. The checks showed up in Georgia and we live in IA so it was someone passing through. Still...

I always lock the car and house. Wish I could lock the mailbox...but we are on a rural road with traditional front flap mailboxes.

Farmer I work with used to leave keys in truck while working. One time, they found it in Texas-stopped that habit.

Sad part is the truck was recovered with all his tools. Taken to police impound, where they were stolen.

Oh..when we lived on base in Cuba...GTMO,....nobody locked cars. If they got stolen....they couldn't go off base! I still locked the house though. And that was 1981--not much to steal in a car back then. 8 track anyone?

That's why we also have a PO Box. In fact, when we married almost 19 years ago, I had a PO Box, DH had one and neither one of us wanted to give it up, so for all these years, we have had separate PO Boxes. I already got us ONE at the new place we are moving to and we each have a key.

That is why we have a PO Box as well. Damage to mailboxes was one thing. Mail missing from time to time was another. The last straw was coming home sick (early) one day and finding a men's magazine in the box addressed to me, with a subscription that was over 16 months old, that neither of us had ever seen.

Poor neighborhood someone lost his safe, personal mail box when we left it down and moved out mail to town.
