Patchy lawn

I've recently moved into a new house and am trying to get to grips with the garden. The lawn's a bit patchy with a few weeds I don't recognize and some of the shrubs have some patches on that I'm not sure about.
I'm not sure where to start, any advice?

No really. I'm sure someone on here can identify your patchy weeds and someone else can help you get your patchy shrubs sorted out.

I know the patches on the shrubs aren't black spot, but don't know enough beyond that. I'll try to take some pictures later and see if anyone has any idea.

I don't know much about patches on the shrubs but it caused by bacteria or fungi, which require certain environmental conditions to grow. Prevent or correct some diseases through proper cultural care, such as planting the shrub in the correct site, irrigating properly, and pruning during the right season.
