So, he's helping you harvest, then? LOL

We used to have a dog that loved to harvest our cherry tomatoes. For a long time we couldn't figure out where the ripe tomatoes were going, then one day we caught him in the act. It was pretty funny watching him sniff around and choose the ripe ones!
He wishes  he's only aloud out on his chain or leach, and the garden is fenced, mainly to keep the chickens out. I found out that he likes them because he was sitting next to me, not truly begging but more of a "Will you please feed me?". So I offered him one figuring he would try it, not like it and move on. But no he decided it was yummy :)

Here are the blue podded peas (they look purple to me :idunno ) we tried them as raw snow peas, but they are too bitter. But we will try them as shelling and as cooked snow peas.

That's too funny, Cats! Dogs are so silly sometimes! Guess that's why we love them so much.

Those peas look beautiful! I've never seen blue/purple ones before. They will be a nice colorful addition to stir-fry, etc. When you shell them, are the actual peas also blue?

I haven't shelled them yet, but I need to harvest so I'll let you know when I do!

Oh my! Those look yummy! I've never had fresh peas before. Maybe next year we will find a place to grow some and see if we like them. Haha. I keep saying that about different things, so I'm going to need a lot more gardening space next year! Let us know how they taste, Cats!!!

I grew purple/blue bush beans last year- they looked so cool, when they were raw. When cooked they turned ordinary green...
Those peas look really neat!

As far as taste they are okay, but I really prefer the snow peas. With the snow peas I can grab one and eat it in the garden (yum), but at least with the smaller Blue podded they are too bitter for my taste and I really don't like to shell peas, you get so little out of it. So I unless they some how really impress me this summer I won't be planting them next year.

But I do have some left over seeds and I'm going to throw them and some snow pea seeds in this fall, and try for a fall crop of peas. :fl Now I just need to figure out when I'm going to plant those....

I really should start a new thread, but here is today's update on the peas:

I thought I was done harvesting this week. But I harvested a little under a pound of peas tonight, a mix of Blue podded (which I really need to look up their real name) and Snow peas. These will be going to a funeral with me tomorrow, my Step-mom's dad died Tuesday.
