Some of mine were rotten as well. I thought it was a drainage problem so I tried to fix that first. I only ended up with 3 pea plants from my first planting. I replanted the rest several weeks later, and now I have 15 plants. I'm sure my first 3 will produce first and then I can have some fresh ones ready later. I'm glad it happened like that. :D

In other words, go for it!!!

Ohh ok, i'm not really sure why the peas seeds are rotten i think its just the quaility of the seed it probably wasnt very good quality. I could always re sow new ones tomorrow but i'm afraid it might be too late for sowing peas i think. Yeah you could always plant fresh seed. Did you plant your new seeds in the same location as the first 3 peas.

I did actually. I even added more then my first planting because I didn't know they could be as close together as an inch. Mine were originally 6" apart. I didn't have a lot of peas left, so I put in all I had left to get what I have now. They are probably about 3" apart now though filling in the gaps and replanting where others were.

I am currently putting coffee grounds, and soon to add beer filled cups in the ground around the plants because slugs have been getting them the last few nights.

Oh i see, you could always plant more peas and plant them an inch or wait for late summer to sow peas for Fall. I didnt know slugs will eat peas, good luck with getting them, then you could always give the slugs to the chickens or birds to eat but then again they might get drunk with the beer........
I have a bad habit of sticking my fingers in the soil looking for some sign of the pea's shoots then i ended up snaping the shoot in half. I need to be more patient.

What kind of peas are we talking about here? Shelling, edible podded (sugar snap, etc) or peapod types?
