ALL I know is that hot peppers bite no matter how old or dehydrated that they are!
I just finished re dehydrating the jalepanoes that I friend gifted to me, since I wasn't satisfied with the first dry down.
I handled them with my fingers, then touched my left eye, which watered for an hour.
When I remove them from the top 2 trays in the dehydrator today I will use a meat fork to move to the jar.

I contaminated the phone last week. Someone called in the middle of deseeding, what to do? Never heard the end of that.

I tried three of those jalapeno varieties with great results. They were hotter than I expected.

Good to hear! My Pumpkin Spice Jalapenos were a total bust in two gardens. I'll try again next year.

Our neighbor gifted us some peppers multiple times this fall. Some were piping hot while others were as mild as a bell pepper. We snacked on some of them raw with crackers and cheese and sometimes our mouths would set on fire! They were super yummy chopped and mixed into scrambled eggs.

I was chopping jalapenos once years back and a big squirt of juice went straight up into my eyes! Oh boy was I hootin and hollering! I ran and rinsed with water and I was fine, but my eye burned for a while. Now I'm smarter. I wear gloves and glasses when I cut hot vegetables!

 

[Branching Out]

Popped by a garden centre that was selling pepper seedlings at a special price-- 2 for $1! I took home a couple of Siracha peppers, as well as some Shepherd peppers. One of the Shepherd containers has two plants in it, so I got five pepper seedlings for $2. What a great deal!

Five months later and there are still stunning Siracha peppers ripening on those bargain plants that I picked up in mid-June. The Shepherd peppers were doing well too, until the other day when I noticed all of the peppers that are pointing downwards are rotting. There is one upward facing Shepard, and it looks great. I'll save seed from that one.
