I once read about a woman starting a garden in a very infertile area of the US. She starting asking her neighbors to dump their grass clippings and leaves at her house. They were happy to be rid of it and laughed at the thought of anyone thinking they could garden where they were. (Sorry forgot the details of where) Soon her efforts turned her garden into beautiful soil and many of the neighbors starred keeping their own clippings. Might be a good idea. Many places have fees for bring leaves, etc, to the dump. We get leaves from a landscaper happy to get rid of the stuff for free. The leaves are already shredded. I also get a few truckloads of grass clippings to use on my daylily beds, though I would not use them in my organic veggie garden.
