I guess this is "garden related" enough to be here. One of the biggest meteor showers of the year is going on August 12-13. Best viewing is around 2:00am on the morning of the 13th, in the northeast sky. If the sky is clear, the full moon will hamper some vision, but we should still be able to see the brighter meteors. Take your lawn chairs out in the garden with some bug spray and a bottle of wine and have a party! Or for city dwellers, head for the country and wide open skies, unhampered by city lights.

Thanks for the reminder! I try to watch them every year, unless it's too overcast. Last year was perfect. DH, DD and I sat in our camp chairs around a small bonfire in our backyard and "fired smarshmallows and watched flying stars", as per my then 3-yr-old daughter. Good times!

Thanks for that reminder ;) . It would be quite exciting and fun to see! Its great that those 2 days are during the weekend, so we have more time to be able to see any Meteor.
I bet its almost like a firework display far up in the night sky, it would be so cool to see :happy_flower .

Perseids are our favorite. Usually view it from a boat. Our joke was my husband never saw them. Every time we ooohed and ahhhed he looked too late! Thanks for the reminder!

I heard that even tho the peak of the meteor shower is the 12 - 13, better viewing is RIGHT NOW, due to the full moon. So maybe you can get in several nights of meteor watching!

That's good to know, since I'll be visiting my folks in fogtown usa that weekend. Maybe we'll build a fire tonight and entertain ourselves!
