Sure didn't expect that. They really are cute little flowers. Lots of folks don't even notice them. There are other little flowers similar sized around here like the Trout Lily, the Shooting Star Dodecatheon, and the small species of Mariposa California Tulip. There is one other that I don't know the real name of that folks call the carousel flower, and the fritillaria which is a bit taller. I'll try to get some for my garden next year, which is going to be very diverse next year.

I really really like the Dodacatheon! I took a picture of one about 30 years ago on a backpacking trip in the eastern side of the Sierras
I just ran across it this week while sorting through stuff we moved around during a little remodel. So sweet!
