Hi everyone:
About 1 month ago I bought a few bags (plastic) of asperagus crowns and strawberry crowns. I completely forgot and just found the bag. Are these crowns still viable or have I killed them?

Thanks for your help!!

Not sure about the asparagus, but strawberries are supposed to be refridgerated and planted within a week of receiving them. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try though....

I planted two bags (24) of freshly purchased bare root strawberries and exactly ONE has produced green leaves.

I finally gave up on the rest and bought a couple of potted strawberry plants.

Those asparagus crowns, look pretty dead, at their best. I say, dig a hole and give them a chance. Same with the berries. You've got them, what could it hurt??
Good luck! Happy Gardening!

I'd do exactly as lesa says, plant them and see what happens.
With the asparagus don't give up too soon, I've had some that have taken 45 days or more to poke out of the ground.

Ha, I'm in the same boat as you!

I've already decided I will try them and just see what happens...I won't admit to how long I've had them tho ;)
