Wow! I never saw Christmas cactus growing in the wild!!!
Very difficult to get rid of even in a drought in the Sonoran Desert.
My be pretty in a pot, but not all over the yard.
Almost as difficult as Cholla to eliminate.

Thank you so much for the tips!😊 I'm excited to go get the clippings! I'm out cruising in BFE so I won't be able to get the root hormone, but I will follow your other tips! Fingers crossed! Next time I go out hiking I'll get some!

if you take enough cuttings enough may root without the hormone. :)

I live in SW Washington , 10 +/- from the Columbia River. Just behind our lot, there is a drainage canal that has a wild rose that is on the highway side of the canal.( I don't know what species it is, but it has lots of pink flowers , it is about 8 ft tall and almost as wide, produces many rose berries and it produces new bushes . Hummingbirds birds nest it it. The State cut down MANY cotton wood trees and everything else for over a mile but they left this rose alone. If anyone is interested , I could pick some ripe rose hips in Dec. and mail them to you.

there are some tiny flying bugs that infect rose hips so you'd need to make sure that they are clean of those before sending them anywheres.

I had no idea how easily it grows! No wonder I could grow it from a cutting! Lol!
Both Christmas cactus & Cholla root up very easy from the smallest of pieces in the hottest driest of conditions.
They just need to get partly buried & a little starter moisture so they can hydrate.
After that, it could be 117°F & bone dry for months, yet they will still grow roots.
