After throwing a bit of potting soil on the floor (for Good Luck :p), some things have gone into 4-packs (1st sowings - all tomatoes, 1/2 peppers, 1/2 eggplants). There will be lots more in 2nd & 3rd sowings of tomatoes and 2nd sowings of peppers & eggplants. But, so far - some of the tomatoes:

There was a brief moment of sunshine this afternoon. Hopefully, these guys will see lots more of that sun, soon!

Looks good Steve. I always am happier with dirt under my nails. :). Looks like you have enough to keep you busy for quite a while. Plastic cupcake containers make awesome container to start plants in. I leave the lid intact and use it for a mini greenhouse. I had my first buttercrunch in them before I put them in the hoop house.

I started more seeds yesterday. Celery, eggplant, replacement lettuce, more garlic chives, and some mixed squash. I know I am going to probably kick myself over the squash but I bought a tomato collection and they came in individual plants. I bought a summer squash collection and they came in 1 packet. The seed look a little different but not that different. I will probably have to put them into pots before I can plant them outside.

I need to finish putting onions out in the hoop house. Everything that I put out in the hoop house is doing really well. I planted peas and they are coming up. I will be harvesting lettuce by birthday. Most years I don't have much in the garden on my birthday (May 3).

They are getting too clever with these plastic containers that have been so useful to me, Teresa. I used to only have to be careful about not buying stuff in the ones that were too shallow or too large. Now, they have the ones with a sloping front . . . probably to fool the consumer into thinking there is more product in the box than there is . . . I can avoid putting seed in that area.

The other style that didn't work out that well had dividers. I should have marked those at the soil surface so that I didn't put seed directly over them but, didn't. Since I said something nasty about the sloping style; I'm sure that those dividers are just there to enhance the consumer's convenience and comfort.

A collection and NOT put seeds of everything in the soil?? That would take a heaping measure of restraint! I have to struggle with my curiosity every year! Having, I guess it's, 27 tomato varieties instead of 29 was a difficulty.

"More!" It's so much more and so little "less."

Steve

I keep trying to cut my varieties back so I started with 5 and now I am at 7, which is really good because I almost started a few more yesterday when I was starting seeds. Only 2 are varieties I'v grown before. I have to transplant my gilberti paste into something bigger then the nine cell containers.
