Sounds like you have some calcium build up in your hot water feed to your shower head? Not sure, but maybe YouTube can help you.....

And here's one in an accent and attitude you may understand more?

getting hot water in other places, just not shower? If so, check to make sure there is no shut off for tub/shower-nephew playing joke on you?

To help for the huffing and puffing of pulling out the Moen valve , or any valve or shut off valve ... spray some ( or more) WD- 40 onto the valve and let stand for a few minutes to dissolve the Calcium deposits- valve should come out pretty easy. Also, for a different model of Moen cartridge valve, they make a different stainless steel cartridge puller. Costs $13.48 at the big box store. Then always remove the ""U" shaped pin first out of the Moen valve housing that keeps the valve in place or you will NOT be able to remove the old valve. Then remember to re- install that pin after you put in the new valve cartridge.

Buying a cartridge puller is the best solution. Ace hardware for less than $10. @bobm is right, get that spade looking pin out first. Very easy.

Not going to try to fix it on your own? Those vids look like it would be pretty easy!
IF it is just a plugged cartridge, it’s super easy. Really doubt it is a bad cartridge since they tend to leak, not stop water. Have you checked shut off valves? Hate to see you pay a plumber $100+ just to have him turn a valve.

Double handle (one for cold, one for hot) or a single handle?
