Actually, it's probably not a bad idea to look over EVERYTHING they have. Burlap and Barrel are FAMOUS for getting in obscure spices that no one else does (as well as conventional spices in grades WAY beyond what is generally available). It's almost become my go-to for most spices (and bear in mind I have the whole of NYC, and thus the whole of Curry Hill, to shop for spices in.) Their Robusta pepper is my go to pepper, their Cloud Forest cardamom my go to cardamom, Their cinnamons my cinnamons. And I used to literally go through a huge jar of the Atlas Red Juniper berries every month in my tea. I probably still would, if they still carried it (I'm actually so desperate now I am planning to take my last five or six berries, put them in a pot and HOPE I can grow a red juniper bush and it will survive here.

Activity will be good for him and may help stave off the inevitable for a time. If you don’t already use turmeric, you might want to look into it. Alzheimer’s and dementia is practically unknown in India, where turmeric is heavily used in cooking.

I make a paste with coconut oil, take a heaping teaspoon and wash it down with something to drink. I use it as a pain reliever, it reduces inflammation. In about 30 minutes I feel the pain draining away.

I’m glad y’all got this place. It will be good for both of you and being that close to your DD is an added bonus.
Coconut oil good for dementia too. I will be joining the 67 year old club this month.

How funny you mention this! My dogs take turmeric as a supplement for arthritis issues. It works miracles for inflammation and such.

Another good supplement I might put forward is mushrooms. There's been a lot of research done on Cordyceps and Lion's Mane, two medicinal mushrooms, that have shown a lot of promise as far as slowing down cognitive decline. Here's a couple of studies on them:

https://www.centerforcognitivehealth.com/lions-mane-a-mushroom-to-remember/ <-- this one has a list of the studies at the bottom, the summary of them are in the text there.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31762595/ <--improved memory impairments in rats
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33463937/ <-- protects against neurological damage from Alzheimers.

Just a thought to help your hubby. :) They have absolutely zero side effects, so worst case scenario you ate something tasty. ;-)

After removing the unnecessary (and harmful) pills from my FIL, I added a B-complex. I also ordered turmeric (thanks @baymule ), and coconut oil is one of my favorite oil; I will add both to his diet soon.

@Rhodie Ranch Congratulations on the new property! I believe that it will create a lot of new and beautiful memories.

Two years ago I bought a plastic jar of Lions Mane. He refused. I think I'll take it. My mind is jumbled with all the details of the next few months.

I still have a five gallon container of coconut oil from my soap making days. I'll check to see if its still good.
I love scientific links. Off to read them now.

Thanks my TEG family. Sure appreciate it.

@Rhodie Ranch Unfortunately we can't make our loved ones try new things sometimes. If he sees it helping you though perhaps he'll change his mind. I know when we started cold laser therapy on our dog, the difference was so obvious and he visibly enjoyed the sessions sooo much, a friend of mine with arthritis signed up for the human version.
