I finally forced myself to plant seed today. Beefsteak, and Romas, Butternut squash, basil, and birdhouse gourds. I have one tray left- I will use for melons, pumpkins and cukes. Looks like I will be able to start some cool weather seeds in the greenhouse in a week or so... I believe spring is approaching!

I follow a "get your lazy butt moving" schedule! When I can't think of any other way to procrastinate- then I start planting! With our never ending winter weather, it was a real struggle this year. Better days are coming...

That's exactly how I feel right now. After a deep drought last summer and the seemingly never-ending winter, I don't think I'll feel much like planting until I see some signs that everything isn't dried and dead.

Lesa, I use that same exact schedule!

Actually, when I read Steves posts that he has started this or that and is transplanting the other, I start getting anxious, then I let it build for awhile until it is worry that I will be too late, then when it is absolute panic that a garden will not go in I start planting.

Here's hoping you get your spring soon, and all your seeds germinate quickly!

I've had trouble getting "garden motivated" this year too. It's been so darn cold and dreary! Usually, I've not only been bitten by the garden bug, but by this time of year chewed up, swallowed, pooped out and walked on. Thanks to this less than spectacular weather, I've barely felt a nibble.

Yup, that sums it up! My anxiety level is greatly increased by all the super industrious gardeners on here!! Thanks guys! Or, we can go with Monty's weather theory... I think it was a little of both. Nothing germinated since this afternoon, so the waiting continues.

Some say slowly but sure gets the job done.

If that doesn't work, try my way:

Dink around and dawdle at it until it's done.

Now, one guy has a chaise lounge near his garden. I have one too, but so far it's a plastic outside chair near my garden to rest and smoke break...ok ok ok, to think and deeply ponder upon. Actually, drove to town and shopped today, planted 3 berries, brought a flat of beans back in for the night...

...and i'm tum pluckered out...

Around here you have to force yourself not to plant too early. Our days are beautiful, so the temptation to plant is overwhelming, but we still get frost at night. Down on the valley floor everybody has been growing for quite a while, but up here we still have to wait until the beginning of May or so to plant tomatoes, beans, cucs, etc. It's like forcing yourself to be a lazy butt - at least, that's how I choose to look at it! Teehee.
