I wouldn't say she's "OK with it". In fact, the first time our two year old goes and jumps in it I'm sure I'll get an angry text message, but she understands the cost benefit :/

if you can't use it right away, cover it, otherwise the wind and rain will move a lot of it around... BTDT too.

That classic blue tarp lasts MAYBE ( someti mes only a month in more sever weather ) a year before it turns to shreds due to sun, rain , frost / snow and winds ... at least in my neck of the woods.
