purple leaves on tomato plants

EDIT: I thought it was just purple on the back sides of the leaves, which just indicates a type of tomato. Are you really dry right now--could be that.

Purple usually indicates a lack of magnesium.

It is a bit dry, but they are mulched and the soil isn't dry.

The magnesium may be in the soil but deeper than the water is getting so it isn't being taken up. Try adjusting a hose to a bare trickle and leave it at the base of the plants for several hours so your water gets deep.Hollywood Gardens said:

They are in pots now, because it is to hot to grow tomato's outside in the sun.
They are in Miracle Grow Organic potting mix.
