My garden is right where a lot of girls walk by, and yes, a lot of them would flail their arms around like a girl ( :p ) This is where city folks come to camp. A lot of them are countrywise to various extents, but some are city folks all the way through, especially the younger ones.

At least 2 of our campers here are allergic. I'd have to think well.

Hmmm, well then I'd probably not put hives out. City folk tend to freak out when you mention bees! :bee
Did you know that almost every major building in NYC has a bee farm on top of it with multiple hives? And there are hundreds of bee hives hidden in Central Park out of sight of the public. You can raise bees in town. They are non-intrusive and they will benefit anyone in your neighborhood who has flowers or a garden. Increased bee stings? I seriously doubt it. Bees only sting if you are threatening their hives or you crush one. I know several people who live in suburban neighborhoods who have two or three hives on their back fences. We need bees and they're part of nature. Do you know you can't get cucumbers without honeybees? Or cantaloupes? Honeybees don't bother people. People bother honeybees and when they do they get stung. And I can tell you that's not very often. We've been keeping bees now for over four years now and I've only been stung one time. I was pushing my noisy lawnmower too close to the hive and I was wearing a black shirt. The guard bee that stung me probably thought I was a bear because of my attire and attached. My granddaughters come over almost every weekend and they play within fifty feet of eight hives and neither have been stung even when there is a cloud of bees around the hives. Get bees. Do the world a favor and get bees.

Excuse me Jim, I did not mean to offend you with my post. Yes, I do know that there are hives located on building tops in big cities. And yes, I know that bees polinate plants, and that people keep them in suburban areas - there are several that are in my bee club and I also live in a semi-suburban neighborhood. I also know that a lot of people are not educated about the honeybee's world. When they hear bees, like my co-workers did - they panic and all that comes to mind is the "killer bee" mentality. Marshall stated that there was a lot of foot traffic in his area, so I told him it may not be a good idea. I find your response to my post preachy and offensive.

Southern, so sorry. I don't mean to be preachy or offensive. I'm just an avid beekeeper and I'm always encouraging people to consider keeping bees. Sometimes I get carried away. Again, sorry. No offense meant.
