Antidepresent?

i noticed that too, anti-de-present might be ok too since it sorta (<- note that sorta there) means to me like getting out of the present, into the gardening time zone. :) i know when i can get outside and it is a nice day i can get into things and sure do lose track of time for a while.

Except 1. That would be anti-present (no "de") 2. The description below clearly is for antidepressant and 3. antidepresent isn't actually a word (not that I don't make up words all the time.)

This is going slightly off topic, but as this thread is supposedly for quotes AND thoughts, I suppose this is where it belongs.

This morning, I started thinking about the Arthur C. Clarke short story "The Nine Billion Names of God", and I began to wonder how different the story would go if it happened in OUR time instead of 1953. It occurred to me that (spoilers ahead for anyone who has never read it) almost all of the plot development in the story simply wouldn't exist, for the simple reason there would be no TIME for it. Given the memory capacity and speed of our current supercomputers, the computer would finish up the whole program before the protagonist even walked out the door (actually, with a supercomputer and a fast enough printer, or no printing at all (the rules merely say the names must be written, it doesn't say anything about them having to be written on a permanent physical medium), the program would probably be done before he was able to take his hand off the button).
