if you think about what it takes to get there and how fast that is changing, perhaps that is a thought for the day and tomorrow...
Humans are hurt when CO2 levels hit 4% and we are at .04% in the air now, so we have to pollute 9,900% more to help the ai destroy humanity and I already feel tired.

i always thought the golden rule was rather solipsistic...

the way i've always thought it was best was "Treat other's how they'd like to be treated." with the usual caveats about it being legal and something you're not against doing yourself.

this implies reasoning and communication.

That actually falls into the same masochist trap; you'd still hurt people because you would want to be hurt.

There are also a lot of loopholes when you start comparing how people WANT to be treated versus how you think they NEED to be treated. Torquemada didn't torture people because he thought they'd ENJOY it , he did it becuase he thought getting them to confess was essential to the salvation of their souls, and that the eternal life one had in heaven was far more important than any pain you would endure here on Earth. Alas, in general, people have a lot of trouble reconciling what they WANT in life with what would actually be good or useful to them in it. The life most of us WANT would probably not make us very happy, and often would totally destroy us if we got it. You can't get pleasure without pain, success without failure, pride without shame, and accomplishment without frustration. And alas, in this world, given the bars we set for those things, the amount of negative we get is usually far more than the positive is worth. Hope may be great for getting you through tough times, but it is also great for making you stay and keep digging yourself in deeper when all logic says to cut your losses and run.

no, that misses what i said above. i wouldn't want any part of treating someone badly enough to hurt them even if they wanted to be hurt, i do have some limits and that is one of them.

But you are NOT a masochist. The trap only applies to people like them, people who LIKE being hurt and who, for some reason, aren't aware of the fact other people do not (so, I guess it only applies to masochists who are also psychotic.)

Going a bit Biblical this time.

"The Wicked shall find small market for their souls, for the Devil need not pay for that which he doth already own."
Is Satan the reason I get so many rocks and sharp bits in my shoes this time of year? My wife and I have agreed it is obviously shoe boulder season.
