It's very early for the rains to start here in the San Diego area but for almost two weeks now we have had just about the perfect rain. No downpours. Just a nice gentle rain with pauses between showers
to let it soak in. The ground is soaked way down deep and hardly a drop was wasted. Now when we get some sunny days things should really be jumping out there.

October has not been great for us weatherwise here in Massachusetts compared to what we usually get for fall.
Usually its filled with nice crisp fall days, the kind where you don't really need a jacket and perfect for all outdoor activities, but its been off and on hard rain and some really cold windy days.
Today was cold enough that we broke out the heavier coats for the kids.
I hope we get some nice weather for the next week or so, October is usually my favorite month of the year.
Glad you are getting the type of weather you like.

Hoodat, please ship about 5" of that gentile rain to us in S.E. Indiana. We have not had any rain at all since July. This entire area is so dry that there has been an area-wide burn ban for weeks now. Our field and yard looks like a desert. Livestock around here have been eating hay for weeks now. Pastures are dry as a bone.

I have 4 rain barrels for flower gardens around the house and they have been dry for well over a month.

:(

Weather is so strange! Anyone who wants my rain, can have it!! We have rain scheduled for the next 7 days!! So depressing. I am glad you are getting good garden rain, hoodat. I am sure sunny days are on their way to SoCal. We had snow flurries yesterday...

Hoodat, thanks alot now you've sent that rain our way also. I wasn't ready for it yet, still need some dry days to finish our new chicken coop. They say we might have a few snow flurries tomorrow. Glad you are getting the weather you want, not happy that you are spreading it around LOL. Oh well this gives me time to sketch out my garden plan for next spring.

It's getting a little overdone now. We have some unexpected drizzles this morning. The rain was great but I really need some sunshine now. Some fellers are never satisfied.

All this talk about San Diego weather reminds me of when we lived there in the mid 60s. On a day in late January 1967 my wife and I went out for a walk and a soft serve ice cream. There was a line at the order window and the young lady in front of us had a very long fur coat wrapped tightly around her. She was complaining to her friend about how cold it was. Shortly after her complaint she opened her coat to wrap it more tightly around her and we could see that she was wearing a skimpy bikini and had no shoes on. Now THAT'S winter in southern California! We still laugh about it today.

Amen to that! I haven't seen the sun in about 5 days now. The rain was nice, but enough is enough. My ducks are swimming in the driveway.

I'm in the same area as Smiles, and we are about 8" under where we should be. Every time they predict rain, it either ends up missing us, or we just get some sprinkles. I would LOVE a nice, gray, rainy day! :/
