I'm in the same area as Smiles, and we are about 8" under where we should be. Every time they predict rain, it either ends up missing us, or we just get some sprinkles. I would LOVE a nice, gray, rainy day! :/
Rain is predicted for us tomorrow and maybe Tuesday!!! Hooray!!! Just a little late - like about two or three months too late. :D

We finally have a little sun again here. I've been worried about the new plants I just put in the garden, because it is both cold and soggy, and the soil can't drain well since it's so high in clay. I think they're going to be fine though, if the sun decides to come out again tomorrow. :D

We are getting some much needed rain here today too. I didn't realize just how brown and dead my lawn was getting until my husband mowed it one last time and kicked up a dust storm. :p We need a lot more rain. I hope it keeps it up!

I'm not too far from Hoodat (~2 hours north of him) and we're getting wet as well -- on and off. We had some Sun out on Saturday and I was able to fire up the propane flame thrower and thwart some baby weeds that germinated (hundreds and hundreds of them) within the past 2 weeks. I pretty much laid them flat sans a few I missed -- no chemicals needed. I later planted some lettuce (two varieties), broccoli (4 plants), and some sort of stir-fry capable greens that are in the spinach family. I still need to get one of those books on pruning as I (probably) hacked up our lime tree which is growing like crazy and about 5-6' tall (not any more though).

My youngest son and I also spent some time cleaning out one of the 3 worm bins we've got, to move the worms to some new bedding of newspaper this time instead of peat moss.

Anyway, then it started raining again late Sunday afternoon.. At least the chickens didn't seem to mind much as the rain was rather light!

BTW : I did manage to collect about 40-50 gallons in our two trash cans we have sitting under the roof eaves from this minimal rain.. Good enough to water the plants for a while...

We FINALLY got real rain today with the big storm system that moved through. Luckily, it wasn't as severe as they were predicting, and we got several hours of rain from it. Hopefully, it was enough to make a bit of a dent in the drought!
