Same here. We leave the cows grain buckets out all day so the sun dries them. In turn, when it rains, we can see how much we got.

When we have a down pour the grain buckets can fill up to 14 inches with water. I know there is no chance we got that much rain. I sure like to think we did.

MORE rain yesterday afternoon, last night, and T-storms predicted today. I think we have finally broken the drought here. Here is last night, before the rain drove me inside.

We've broken the oppressive heat here, too. Tomorrow's high will be 80 degrees F!! :woot :woot :woot

I think we have broken the terrible weather pattern we have had for many weeks, too. Lots of short showers for three days now and predicted cool temps for the next few days. It's a shame that my veggie garden has turned brown and I have pulled out most of the plants. The drought has been so bad here that I haven't even considered a full second planting this season. In frustration I stuck some new bean seeds in the ground last week but I haven't checked on then yet.

I guess I'm just demoralized after putting so much work into the gardens only to have them turn out so bad. The only things I'm getting now are bitter cucumbers and wonderful tomatoes. I threw 10 cantaloupe and 10 watermelon vines into the compost yesterday. Last week I pulled 30+/- pea plants and many broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, and cauliflower plants. The compost pile is looking good for next year though.

I should shut up and count my blessings.

You would have had NO garden if you didn't put the time in. Pat yourself on the back, for that. I'm planting a 2nd planting of several crops. And, WHO KNEW, I found 2 cantaloupe plants growing last week, in a patch I'd given up on. Got 4 melons on them, too! My sweet corn pretty much panned out, BUT, I'll be able to harvest enough to dry out the seeds to plant in 2013.
We a got a little monster storm late yesterday afternoon. There was a RR car pushed off of the tracks in Sydney, 10 miles up the road from us, AND, I'd just driven through Sydney on my way home, yesterday!! Could have been ME in my Saturn, off of the road, too!! :ep i just HAD to stop for a cone at "The Dairy Barn!!"
Woke up this morning to a total of 3 more inches AND storm damage to one of my fences.
