Me getting ready to go out in the down pour to cover the beds.

A view of the covered beds from my front door.

I just covered them about two hours ago and I just looked outside and the plastic is covered with water and is overflowing outside of the beds. My lettuce, radishs and carrots are all less than 1/2" tall I don't want the water weight to kill them. Am I better off taking the plastic off and letting them get soaked or leaving the plastic on?

I plan to build supports this week but I didn't know that I needed to build supports or have to cover them when I started gardening this year. I guess learn as you go is a very true statement.

Thanks,

Angie

Well, for what it's worth, nothing is covered in my garden and I have some carrots, lettuce and radish at about the same point as you do.
From your picture of the beds it's definetly going to hold some water on the edges. Do you have something you could put in the center of the beds to create some slope towards the edges? That would keep the water from pooling up. I would think the water weight would do more damage than the rain and we are supposed to be getting around an inch or more. Good luck! :)
