Whoa, Penny! Forty feet! I am envious! I have to tell my hubby that so my 8 foot beds won't seem like a big deal. LOL

Momofdrew, What kind of wood did you use? You too, Penny? I am going to try to go to the lumber yard this afternoon to see what they have. If I use the preformed corners, they have to be 2 x 6. Otherwise, I might try to find 2 x 10's or 2 x 8's.
we used rough cut lumber 1 x 10 x 12.5ft long for $7.50 each from a guy who cuts his own timber...lots cheeper then Lowes or HD...
we painted it with boiled linseed oil

Does the boiled linseed oil work well to seal it? Can it be used on the inside?

I went wood shopping yesterday and obviously, fir is a LOT cheaper than the redwood I was thinking about using. I wonder if I could go with fir and paint the outside and then maybe line the inside with plastic to slow the rot?

I went with fir with no treatment (oil) because many people on this forum reported 10 years or longer with their untreated fir raised beds.

Oh good! That makes me feel more confident in going with fir. I ended up ordering some brackets from this place Gardens to Gro....

They seem more cost effective than the other brackets I had found. I know I probably don't need them, but these planters are going around our patio so I want them to look a little more finished.
