Yup, they're endangered here. Sadly, much of the place is full of people who really just don't care. Most of the land and bodies of water are heavily polluted and you could probably find a piece of garbage in every couple of square feet. It gets worse the closer up to Lake Erie you get. There are cornfields and subdivisions everywhere, only with a few trees scattered around. The lake is full of garbage and algae blooms. In many spots the distance that you could see into the water is only a few centimeters, and that's if there's a fish swimming at the very surface. No wonder the Lake's sturgeons are disappearing. We are also losing our salamanders, I've only seen one in my entire life - a small, bland looking gray one that I found under a brick. I can remember Pa telling stories of when he was a kid, he would go to the lake and catch buckets of them. :(
