She's definitely looking better. I think she might benefit from some topline exercises before you put a saddle on though. She's gained weight but she could use a little muscle up top.

When you are giving her treats, a great way to help build muscle is to stick the treat between her knees so she has to arch her neck to get the treat. It will lift her back as well, and help get her topline working gently. Work over poles and hillwork also work.

That's all I can remember from my show groom days. It's been such a long time. D: I'm sure you know all that, since you've had horses/mules forever too.

She's a lovely looking horse Baymule. The blonde colour of her coat really catches the light. Is she a young horse?
The kill pen said she is 12, vet said 12-14. It’s anybody’s guess. Reina is shedding out her hair, there is golden Palomino color under that milky blonde. One of these days she is going to be absolutely gorgeous.

I took Reina’s 4 month pictures this afternoon. She is shedding out that dead hair and there she is, a golden palomino!!

First day I brought her home. December 7, 2022

Today April 11, 2023, four months later. Wow! I knew there was a beautiful horse in her.

Next week I’m going to work at putting up my 60’ round pen. I’ll start working her in the pen.

Probably, I’ve thought about it. The sheep have the pasture pretty well clipped short, there would be nothing for Reina. Once I get this place under fence and cross fenced, I can rotate her around. Even getting her area under fence would be a big improvement.

The fences are so bad, the previous owners cattle only stayed in because they wanted to. Even so, there have been some escapes that had men on horses with dogs trying to find and capture cows for weeks at a time. There are thousands of acres of forest for them to wander in. On one cow hunt, neighbor found a herd of about 30 cattle happily living out in the woods. No idea who they belonged to.
That is great, they found their freedom in their own paradise :love
