Thanks y’all. Thanks for all the encouragement. Reina Will definitely be a beautiful horse, when she gains weight and slicks out with new hair. Vet was very pleased with how she is coming along.

Tuesday will be 2 months that I’ve had her. New pictures on Tuesday!

Today was sunny and nice. It’s been cold and windy all week. I’ve been sick from being out in the bad weather, cold and rain for two weeks, taking care of Raina. Today I took Raina out, brushed her and let her graze in a lush green patch by the driveway. I got her pictures. Hard to believe it’s only been 2 months.

Can you let her out in pasture with sheep?
Probably, I’ve thought about it. The sheep have the pasture pretty well clipped short, there would be nothing for Reina. Once I get this place under fence and cross fenced, I can rotate her around. Even getting her area under fence would be a big improvement.

The fences are so bad, the previous owners cattle only stayed in because they wanted to. Even so, there have been some escapes that had men on horses with dogs trying to find and capture cows for weeks at a time. There are thousands of acres of forest for them to wander in. On one cow hunt, neighbor found a herd of about 30 cattle happily living out in the woods. No idea who they belonged to.

Isn't that Bowser?
Since no one answered, I will. It’s Chain Chomp.

Probably descendants of his own cattle that got loose.😂

I took Reina’s 3 month pictures yesterday. She sure has changed from that starved skinny horse I brought home December 6, 2022.

This is Reina in the trailer, the day I brought her home. I’m posting this to draw attention to her backbone. There was no flesh along her backbone, it went from a sharp ridge to her rib cage.

I took this yesterday to show what a difference now. Her backbone is still prominent but nowhere near what it was.

She is in good enough condition that I may saddle her and start working her in the round pen, ya’ know, that pile of panels leaned up against the H brace, that I need to drag out and put together. :)
