I certainly don't remember any adult leaving the cream on the top for the kid's breakfast cereal. It seemed a special treat for the adults. . . or perhaps Aunt Lorraine used it in her cooking. Around the farm milk didn't last all that long so finding ways to keep it didn't figure in. Besides, there was always more to drink by the next breakfast.

Downtown was paved with red bricks. The theater was downtown and played kid movies on Saturdays. It was safe for moms to drop the kids off at the movies and come back later to pick them up.
