My local two WalMarts have clearanced BigBoy Tomatoes, Better Boy Tomatoes, Jalepano Peppers and two other types of hot peppers, 6 packs for 50 cents each. I just bought 30 (8-inch tall), thick stemmed BigBoy Tomatoes for $2.50
Yours are probably doing the same. They also have (non-tuberous) begonia 6-packs and petunias for $1.00/6 plants.
Just FYI, for anybody whose starters have failed. :D

Man, too bad you guys aren't near me. I planted about 40 tomatos Sunday. Allready had over 75 in the ground.
When I finished I went in greenhouse and quit counting at 90 still on the shelves.
I go to lunch with a bunch of old gomers every day, I took about 20 plants with me and one guy took them all.
When I left there I stopped by the local Peace Pantry and asked if they thought they could use some plants. Ended up going home and loading up 60 or so more to donate to them.
Today I took another 20 to lunch and was able to get them each a new home.
I still have a bunch left so I've decided to plant them in buckets in the greenhouse and see how they turn out.
Next year I will know better than to start as many as I did this year.
Live and learn!!!

I feel your pain!

Of course, I'd rather have too many, than too few!

Very true.
Stopped by the Pantry today to drop off a chair, the lady in charge said she planted 20 in her dad's garden so she can be sure that the product goes back into the pantrys distribution chain.
I'm sure I'll have a load to give them also.
