I saw good ole Stumpy the Lizard. Got a new tail but it's kind of short. Stumpy the Lizard is up and about with a bunch of new friends. Some Blue Belly Lizards that are extra dark backed this year. Wonder why their backs are extra dark this year.

I saw one of the Blue Tailed Racers. If you've never seen one before then saw it for the first time, you'd be certain sure someone dipped it's tail in Cobalt Blue Metal Flake paint! I was first time I ever saw one!

Saw a young Garter Snake. Now, even a person deathly afeard of snakes can't be scared of these. Especially the one I saw, not quite 10 inches long, maybe as thick as a pencil. That little thing couldn't break your skin if it tried all day. Around here, with their markings, they mean definitely not a dangerous snake, have no fear, know where there might be a small Beetle?

Only saw a couple froggies so far. Salamanders are still snoozing under rocks. Salamanders are my own natural totem animal.

I stepped on a toad today in the garden  So many things have moved back into the garden I forget to be careful again. I need to put some hidy hole stuff out there for the toads until things fill in.

Red, we've had peepers singing here for a month or so (not counting the few false starts warm-ups between cold snaps). It's always been my signal that spring is near when I hear them. Now I'm waiting on the lightening bugs!

I have a breeding population of turtles on the endangered species list. They are called Blanding turtle and are only found around the great lakes , Yet somehow there is a small population in Dutchess co. A friend study them in collage, what is really sad is people find them in their yards and freak out that the goverment is going to take away their land because of the turtle and the turtles disappear. I have several diffrent species of turtles in my pond, they are very shy most times you don't see them you just hear a loud splash. Every now and then I will fine one on the lawn at edge of the woods. Love the turtles and frogs hate the water snakes.

We sometimes find box turtles in the yard. One year we found that one had laid eggs in the garden :/ I called the local zoo and asked them what to do. They said just leave them alone. So, my DD and I put a little fence around the spot so I wouldn't accidentally step on it. Sure enough, eventually the ground was all messed up one morning and when we dug it up, there were little egg shells. All of the babies were gone though. It was very cool.

it's been an extraordinary spring for toads & frogs here. I love them both. haven't seen any snakes except some real small guys. don't know what they are. do know they're not venomous & that's good enough for me. there have been a few geckos. love those guys.

My turtles have awaken, happily sunbathing even on the overcast days:
This one really loves hanging out on his dock :)

I seen one snake but it was so small and moved really fast so I don't know what kind it was. Also seen a couple lizards hanging out in bushes around my garden.
