Update: I just went out to the garden and found two, very large cukes on my second planting!!! So, even in zone 4- I have time to plant cukes in July. Very interesting! I really didn't have too much hope! Always worth experimenting...

Heather, I should take another picture of my Sister Garden. Pumpkins and winter squash have now closed off the south access. I can still sneak in a ways, thru a row of corn on the north side. Some of the Cascade Giant pole beans that I can reach should make it to the kitchen as snap beans. I don't know what happened to the weeds in there. I can't see any from a distance and won't be able to get up close until after a killing frost.

I need a path for 2 big feet so there's a 2' path between the Sugar Buns (sweet corn) and the Raven, Cash Flow & Gold Bars (zucchini). Except what is directly below my feet, I want to see as little dirt in my garden as possible - while still being able to move around.

Six months out of the year, it is either 100% dirt or snow. But, I'm out of it.

I agree, I don't want to see dirt or grass in my garden during the growing season. Just enough toe space to practice my yoga while harvesting (or killing bugs guess the yogi's are turning over in their grave's ............... oops guess not on the graves!)
