Has anybody used them? I am a little bit leary but would give them a try if I knew people had success with them.
SweetMissDaisey has used them, she LOVES them. I was lucky enough to WIN a box of Regular and a box of large mouth. (From her blog!) I have only sealed jars with them so far. Have not reused any yet. They seem to seal very nicely.

I have an old but clear memory as a child regarding canning jars with similar rubber gasket seals. They had metal lids, and rings, but the seal was the rubber kind like the "new" tattler ones. These old lids were so old that the rubber gaskets were crumbling and cracking and so we switched to the one time use lids. I would worry that the tattler plastic lids would warp after heat sanitizing them time and time again. But maybe some plastic is much more durable than others:) I also just saw a show on using canning jars to store food like rice, grains, and dried goods in your pantry. Using canning jars helps reduce kitchen waste..ie ziploc bags, disposible containers etc.

I really need to get back to canning. I used to work at a neighbors fruit orchard and canned like crazy because I got all the fruit I wanted. Fruit is just too expensive now just to buy to can. I remember my neighbors selling peaches, apricots, and plums for much less than .70 cents a pound now peaches could be as much as $3.00 a pound. Cherries were a $1 a pound....now sometimes more than $6.99 unless on sale. I saw plums at Wal-mart for .33 cents EACH! I can't wait until my fruit trees grow up and then I be digging my hoard of canning jars out of storage.....jelly, jam, apple butter, canned peaches, dried fruit...yum.

I am thinking of investing in some of these for my person canning needs. I still need to buy the old fashioned disposable one for my clients' products. But I've also read so many good things about these I so look forward to my first set. :)

That was my thought too. Use the reusable ones for personal stuff, but some with disposable lids for gifts.

We have an attachment for our vaccuum sealer for canning jars. I use it all the time. Living in a semi-arid environment, brown sugar gets really hard and I never had much success with the methods suggested for moistening it up. We keep our coffee in them since we are not big coffee drinkers. I have also used it to store dried coconut and marshmellows. This spring when food prices were starting to spike, I stocked up on coffee, brown sugar, rice, and other dried goods and they are now in the canning jars nicely sealed. I can re-use the canning lid several times before it won't seal anymore.

I like the reusable canning lids for stuff I know I won't be giving away. I just started using them this year, and have reused a couple of lids one time. No problems at all! Follow the instructions, rotate the rubber gasket with each use, and I think you'll find they work great!

I also have two canning jar attachments for the foodsaver, and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I have a wide mouth one, and regular mouth one.

I bought several packages of the 1/2 gallon jars this summer at the farm supply store and have been sealing all KINDS of things in jars (they use a wide mouth lid)! Amazingly enough, it even helps organize the pantry. Things are nice and tidy and I like knowing that the shelf life is extended. Great for things like giant bags of chocolate chips, nuts, dried fruit, etc I buy at Costco! I buy some of my spices in bulk and I've used the vacuum seal for them, too. It's nice to see all of my "stockpile" organized, and safe from critters. Before I bought the jar sealers, I lost an entire 5lb bag of walnuts to what I think were weevils. I was soooo mad! Ordered the jar sealers that night from Amazon. I use them more than the foodsaver bags! Now, as soon as things like nuts, dried fruit, and chocolate chips are brought home from the store, they get poured into clean jars and sealed before they get put away. **Happy Farm Girl!**

If you have a foodsaver and don't have the jar attachments, I highly recommend them!! Put them on your Christmas wish list... or better yet, just order them. They're not expensive! :)

And oh by the way, with the foodsaver jar sealers, I haven't tried using the tattler lids. I just use/reuse regular metal lids. I've yet to have one NOT seal after many uses.
