Rhododendron

A few years ago we had a rhododendron that was not doing well on the lawn by the property line. Rather than toss it I moved it to the back of the property, on a hill, thinking that it would not do well there either, because the water drains away quickly. Well, I was wrong, it made an amazing comeback and is now more than six feet tall and almost as wide front to back. Sometimes I don't mind being wrong.

The Japanese maple is an Acer palmatum that was a bonsai. I would plunge it into the ground to winter it each year and replant it in the spring. One year I just decided to leave it and see what would happen, and it is now a lovely little bush. I estimate that it is at least close to thirty years old.

It is a lipstick vine. The hummers LOVE it.

Beautiful! I will not show my Rhododendrom bushes pictures of yours. That would just be mean of me. OR Maybe it would be motivation for them!!
