Last year was a strange year for me here, cooler and wetter than normal. I'll mention that as it may have a bearing on my experience.
I grew the San Marzano last year. Good yield and all that. Actually very good yield. However, over 90% of the San Marzanoes had a hard, black mass inside them, just up from the blossom end. You could not see it from outside the tomato. I quickly learned I had to split the San Marzanoes open to clean that out. I had some blossom end rot last year, some varieties more susceptible than others, and San Marzano was one of the susceptible ones, but none of my others looked good from the outside and had that hard black mass inside.
I'm going to try the Big Mama this year on the advice of my wife's first cousin, once removed.
