rebbetzin, They do produce rose hips. I have never eaten them or even thought of it for that matter. Something to consider. :D The irises I was told when I got them, that they were Siberian Irises. But that was from my mother in law. She is a wonderful woman, but has been known to make up her own names and words! ;)
After taking a longer look at the iris, it is different than a Dutch Iris. My daughter sent me a photo of a wild Iris growing by the creek near her home in CO.

rebbetzin, I'm thinking they could definitely be the same. They do grow around here in almost "wild" type of situations. I love how delicate the flower looks in the picture you posted. It looks like paper. Mine are actually a lot darker than the pictures would lead you to believe. My camera can't seem to capture the true color. I took some others this past weekend and they still look pale. I do have one clump of white Siberian Irises. I hope they multiply soon, so I can divide. :D
