Nyboy, I am sooo excited! Remember when you sent me the Rose of Sharon starts 4 years ago? I thought none of them had made it. I looked and looked the spring after planting them in the fall and nothing was to be seen of them. Yesterday, I was weeding, and I came across something that looked just like one of those sprigs you had sent me, but it was alive, with several leaves... albeit, not where I had planted it in the raised bed, but just outside of it, in good soil! It has taken 4 years for the plant to take off and thrive, I guess. Maybe it washed over the side with the melting snow and implanted itself in the ground? Or maybe a seed from one of the starts you sent me spilled over? I am so very tickled to death I have no idea what color the flowers will be, but I'm so happy it chose such a great place to grow and it will be great fun watching it mature. So glad I didn't accidentally pull it. I had tried so hard to grow those starts and seeds that I had researched the plant a lot and was familiar with its looks, and also from the twigs you sent me. I wonder whether more will be emerging??? Fun, fun, fun!!!
