Lost all but one of my wifes roses. They budded, I pruned the dead off. Then came two hard freezes. The buds died and the stems turned dark brown or black. I replaced them today, with dormant ones.

It's a real shame :( the dead one I dug up had grown very nice roots. I put them in a 5 gallon bucket with a little water. I will pot them tomorrow, and set out in my makeshift nursery, to see if they can be resurrected.

We used to use styrofoam rose cones for winter and late spring freezes. They worked great but I had to set a big rock or brick on top of them to hold them down. I haven't seen styrofoam rose cones in a long time. Any idea where I can find them?

Those are all just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing! I once had this mini red rose that I kept hanging on a macrame pot hanger on the back of my sailboat. After a few weeks out on the water the flowers all turned white!!! The plant looked fine, but had a strange transformation!
