Good Job Steve. ;) I am a bit stuck. I have bounce around, up and down all winter Going NO PLACE. Sitting here with a 75# loss and needing to lose another 75#. Time to change things up and get motivated again. I am feeling so much better, able to walk with less pain and climb the stairs easier. (Grandson , the 6 yr. old told be my butt is getting smaller.) love that kid. ;)

Steve. I think you've done well with this winter.

My 64# loss is closer to 55#s now that the kids have moved in with me. That 10-ish pounds goes up and down pretty quickly so I suspect at least some of it is salt related. Certainly, with the need to feed son's family I've been cooking more for meals than I did during the early fall. AND I can tell myself that muscle weighs more than fat does. I've certainly been getting stronger working out most every weekday. Feeling a lot steadier and with more endurance.

Carol, here's hoping we can both use LENT to restart our progress. At least that's my plan (kinda).

I have given up next to nothing, struggled with not much at all, accomplished nothing other than avoiding embarrassment.

The "unhealthy" appetite that lingered after helpfully sustained me through an active time began to fall away with winter. Until the New Year, I ate nearly as much as I could of whatever was in sight! No resolution of restraint would slow me down but I tried to keep only healthy choices at hand.

Here's a problem for a gardener who does little food preservation - the produce aisle get lots of attention through half the year. I know I'm not alone in showing up at the soopermarket! I also recognize the seasonal congestion there in November and December. Lean times in January and February? Not really. Gymnastics at the gym after New Year's? Come on! I'm lucky to be able to shake myself out of the lazy boy and actually move around for 30 minutes at a time.

It needs to change and it will change with warmer weather. Muscle does weigh more than fat. I'm usually faced with about 4 months of discouragement followed by a few weeks when I actually feel leaner and more mobile. Then, the overeating commences. Over because I fall into inactivity. Memories of honestly being hungry are distant but capacity ... can hardly be satisfied!

Today, a 40 minute walk was outdoors!

I really could have done that a day or 2 ago (and stayed off the ice/snow and out of the middle of the street) but it's been raining. I didn't do the Indoor Mile on 2 days lately! Shoot, I'll be glad when I can go outside to do something worthwhile or just walk.

It did rain on me continuously during my walk but DW and I joked that the continuous sprinkle didn't hardly dampen my hat & coat. The 24 hour average temperature was 50°f yesterday! Good Heavens, we hadn't even seen that as an afternoon high for over 3 months!

~ I'm putting weather information here so as not to upset people living in the Northeast ;). ~

Over 8" of precipitation has fallen in 2017. That's nearly half of what we can normally expect in a year! @Gardening with Rabbits says the snow has melted completely off her garden and that may be true with my distant gardens and, altho there is snow in a pathway, it's off the 3 beds here at home. Even my piled snow has nearly disappeared! The rivers are above flood stage in a few locations and it may get worse with more rain on it's way. We aren't supposed to have overnight freezing until early next week. There's so much moisture in the air, it curls my hair!

Yeah, with all the humidity right now about the most serious problem here at home is what I think is clinically called "toilet tank sweating."

Steve :D

I had my coat on yesterday and was raking getting ready to plant lettuce and had to take my coat off. DH had the patio door cracked open, and a couple of hours ago DS opened the window in the kitchen. It is 47 right now and we think we are hot. Kind of sprinkling and muggy.

Here in our neighborhood of SW Washington, our rainfall since Oct. 1 is at 38.2". This is the total amount of rain for our rain year already. This morning Jack Frost visited us with a great gusto. ICE on the car, driveway, plants, roof, etc. . While at Portland, Ore. International Airport just 15 miles away the temperature is at 39*.
